Terre Thaemlitz - COUTURE COSMETIQUE

- Steven Blush

In Seconds, Issue 45, January 1998.

(Caipirinha) For those of you who feel cheated by the non-existence of a Techno revolution, check out the latest from NYC mixologist Terre Thaemlitz. Terre is a fiercely Queer maker of Ambient Music with real balls. Some of his past recorded efforts were excellent, but Couture Cosmetique just might be his best work to date. Every time it looks like Terre is about to drop an amyl dancefloor bonb on wax, he retreats back into a cerebral mode - letting us all know that he can rock the party, if he wants to. Song title of the year goes to "Fragmentation/Standardization (Love Now Angrily in Protest)." Thaemlitz is America's premiere underground "Techno" artist, and he's got a distinct socio-political agenda. Put on this wicked disc, and take it like a man.
